Add a distinctive Canadian-market issue from the final season of Lance Parrish's original Detroit Tigers tenure with this 1986 Leaf #201 card, personally autographed by the eight-time All-Star catcher and key member of Detroit's 1984 World Series championship team.

The 1986 Leaf release served as the Canadian counterpart to Donruss and is especially appealing to player collectors because it was a much smaller release than the regular 1986 Donruss set. Parrish appears as #201 in the Leaf set, giving collectors a distinctly different issue from his 1986 Donruss #334. The Leaf cards retain the recognizable Donruss-era styling while carrying Leaf identification associated with the Canadian release.

This card represents an important transitional year in Parrish's career. He entered 1986 after five consecutive seasons in which he had established himself among baseball's premier power-hitting catchers. From 1982 through 1985 alone, Parrish hit 120 home runs, earning four consecutive All-Star selections along the way.

Although injuries limited him to just 91 games in 1986, Parrish remained extremely productive when healthy. He batted .257 with 22 home runs and 62 RBI, posting a .340 on-base percentage, .483 slugging percentage and .824 OPS. His 122 OPS+ was actually one of the better marks of his Detroit career.

Parrish's performance earned him his fifth consecutive American League All-Star selection and another Silver Slugger Award. He was one of three Tigers selected as All-Stars that season along with Lou Whitaker and Willie Hernndez.

The 1986 season also marked the end of Parrish's original run with Detroit. Following the season he signed with the Philadelphia Phillies, bringing to a close a Tigers tenure highlighted by the unforgettable 1984 World Series championship. Parrish was one of the offensive anchors of that championship club, hitting 33 home runs with 98 RBI while earning All-Star, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger honors.

Parrish ultimately finished his 19-year Major League career with 1,782 hits, 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI. His rsum includes eight All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves, six Silver Slugger Awards and the 1984 World Series championship, making him one of the most accomplished catchers of his generation.
