Lance Parrish Autographed 1985 Leaf #41 Detroit Tigers Card

Add a distinctive Canadian-market issue of one of the premier catchers of the 1980s with this 1985 Leaf #41 Lance Parrish card featuring him with the Detroit Tigers, personally autographed by the eight-time All-Star and key member of Detroit's 1984 World Series championship team.

The 1985 Leaf set holds an interesting place in the hobby as Donruss' Canadian release. Rather than simply duplicating the entire Donruss checklist, Leaf produced a much smaller set featuring selected players, giving cards such as Parrish's #41 a distinct identity from his regular 1985 Donruss #49. Parrish's 1985 Leaf issue is correctly cataloged as card #41.

The card was issued immediately following Detroit's unforgettable 1984 World Series championship season. Parrish was one of the driving forces behind that club, hitting 33 home runs with 98 RBI while earning All-Star, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger honors.

Parrish continued to rank among baseball's elite catchers during the 1985 season. Appearing in 140 games, he batted .273 with 150 hits, 27 doubles, 28 home runs and 98 RBI, producing a .479 slugging percentage and .802 OPS. His 98 RBI led Detroit, while his 28 home runs ranked second on the club behind Darrell Evans.

His work behind the plate remained equally impressive. Parrish earned another American League All-Star selection and Gold Glove Award in 1985, giving him four consecutive All-Star appearances and his third straight Gold Glove.

Parrish ultimately became one of the defining catchers of his generation. Over his 19-year Major League career, he accumulated 1,782 hits, 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI, while earning eight career All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves and six Silver Slugger Awards.

For player collectors, the 1985 Leaf #41 is an especially nice companion to Parrish's Donruss, Fleer and Topps cards from the same period, adding a Canadian-market issue to a comprehensive autograph run.
