Lance Parrish Autographed 1985 Fleer #19 Detroit Tigers Card

The 1985 Fleer #19 was issued immediately following the Tigers' unforgettable 1984 World Series championship season, placing it squarely within the prime of Parrish's career. He was coming off a season in which he led Detroit with 33 home runs and 98 RBI while earning All-Star, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger honors.

Parrish followed the championship season with another excellent year in 1985. Appearing in 140 games, he batted .273 with 150 hits, 27 doubles, 28 home runs and 98 RBI, while posting a .479 slugging percentage and .802 OPS. His 98 RBI were the most on the Tigers, while his 28 home runs ranked second on the club behind Darrell Evans.

His value extended well beyond his offensive production. Parrish handled the majority of Detroit's catching duties and earned another American League All-Star selection and Gold Glove Award in 1985. It marked his fourth consecutive All-Star selection and third consecutive Gold Glove, an impressive stretch that demonstrated why he was regarded as one of baseball's elite two-way catchers.

Parrish's Detroit years produced an impressive combination of power and defense. From 1982 through 1986, he hit 142 home runs despite being limited to only 91 games in the final season of that stretch. He was selected to the All-Star team in each of those five seasons.

Over his full 19-year Major League career, Parrish earned eight All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves and six Silver Slugger Awards while collecting 1,782 hits, 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI.
