Parrish was a major force for the championship club. In 1984, he appeared in 147 games and led Detroit with 33 home runs and 98 RBI. He earned an American League All-Star selection, Gold Glove Award and Silver Slugger Award while helping the Tigers race to 104 regular-season victories.

Parrish continued his production in 1985, batting .273 with 150 hits, 27 doubles, 28 home runs and 98 RBI in 140 games. His 28 homers led Detroit, while his 98 RBI tied Darrell Evans for the team lead. Parrish was again selected to the American League All-Star team and captured another Gold Glove Award.

The 1985 campaign continued a remarkable run for Parrish. From 1982 through 1986, he averaged more than 28 home runs per full season and earned five consecutive All-Star selections. During that stretch he established himself as one of baseball's most dangerous offensive catchers while remaining an elite defensive presence behind the plate.

Parrish ultimately became an eight-time Major League All-Star, three-time Gold Glove winner and six-time Silver Slugger winner, finishing his 19-year career with 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI. His combination of power, durability and defense made him one of the defining catchers of his era.
