Add a terrific late-era Detroit issue of one of the premier power-hitting catchers of the 1980s with this 1986 Fleer #234 Lance Parrish card featuring him with the Detroit Tigers, personally autographed by the eight-time All-Star and key member of Detroit's 1984 World Series championship team.

The 1986 Fleer #234 comes from Parrish's final season of his original decade-long run with the Tigers. By this point, he had firmly established himself as one of baseball's elite catchers, combining middle-of-the-order power with outstanding defense behind the plate.

Parrish entered 1986 after another strong 1985 season, batting .273 with 150 hits, 27 doubles, 28 home runs and 98 RBI. He was selected to the American League All-Star team and won his third consecutive Gold Glove Award, completing a remarkable defensive run from 1983 through 1985.

Back problems limited Parrish to only 91 games in 1986, but his offensive production remained impressive. He batted .257 with 22 home runs and 62 RBI, while producing a .483 slugging percentage and .824 OPS. His 122 OPS+ shows that he remained a highly productive hitter despite the abbreviated season.

Parrish was particularly dangerous during the first half of the season, hitting 21 home runs with 59 RBI before the All-Star break. His performance earned him a spot on the 1986 American League All-Star team, his fifth consecutive selection and sixth overall at that point in his career.

He also received the 1986 Silver Slugger Award, the fifth of his career and another indication of his standing among the game's top offensive catchers.

The 1986 season marked the end of Parrish's original tenure in Detroit. Following the season he entered free agency and signed with the Philadelphia Phillies, making cards such as this 1986 Fleer #234 particularly appealing as final-year issues from the prime Tigers portion of his career.

Parrish eventually finished his 19-year Major League career with 1,782 hits, 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI, earning eight All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves and six Silver Slugger Awards.
