Lance Parrish Autographed 1986 Fleer League Leaders #31 Detroit Tigers Card

Add a distinctive boxed-set issue of one of the premier catchers of the 1980s with this 1986 Fleer League Leaders #31 Lance Parrish card featuring him with the Detroit Tigers, personally autographed by the eight-time All-Star and 1984 World Series champion.

The 1986 Fleer League Leaders release is notably different from Parrish's regular 1986 Fleer #234. It was a compact 44-card boxed set produced exclusively for Walgreens drug stores, featuring prominent players and statistical leaders from around Major League Baseball. Parrish is correctly cataloged as card #31.

The checklist is impressive for such a small set. Parrish appears alongside stars and Hall of Famers including Wade Boggs, George Brett, Gary Carter, Dwight Gooden, Don Mattingly, Willie McGee, Dale Murphy, Kirby Puckett, Tim Raines, Cal Ripken Jr., Pete Rose, Ryne Sandberg, Tom Seaver, Ozzie Smith and Robin Yount. The set also includes a rookie-year Jose Canseco card.

Parrish earned his place after another outstanding 1985 season for Detroit. He batted .273 with 150 hits, 27 doubles, 28 home runs and 98 RBI while earning his fourth consecutive All-Star selection and third consecutive Gold Glove Award.

He remained remarkably productive in 1986 despite being limited to only 91 games. Parrish hit 22 home runs with 62 RBI, slugged .483 and produced an .824 OPS. He was selected to the American League All-Star team for the fifth consecutive season and earned another Silver Slugger Award.

The card also represents the final season of Parrish's original tenure with the Tigers. Following the 1986 season, he left Detroit as a free agent and joined the Philadelphia Phillies. His Tigers years included the pinnacle of his careerthe 1984 World Series championship, when Parrish led Detroit with 33 home runs and 98 RBI and homered in the championship-clinching Game 5 against San Diego.
