Lance Parrish Autographed 1983 Perma-Graphics Super Stars Credit Cards #30 Detroit Tigers Card

Add one of the more unusual early-career issues of Lance Parrish with this 1983 Perma-Graphics Super Stars Credit Cards #30 featuring the star catcher with the Detroit Tigers, personally autographed by the future World Series champion.

The 1983 Perma-Graphics Super Stars Credit Cards set is a distinctive alternative to the traditional Topps, Donruss and Fleer releases of the era. The set contains only 36 players and was produced in a smaller 2" x 3" credit-card-style format. Parrish is correctly cataloged as card #30 in the set.

The compact checklist is loaded with many of the era's biggest names. Parrish appears alongside stars and Hall of Famers including Steve Carlton, Gary Carter, Andre Dawson, Dale Murphy, Pete Rose, Mike Schmidt, Ozzie Smith, George Brett, Rod Carew, Rollie Fingers, Rickey Henderson, Reggie Jackson, Eddie Murray, Jim Rice, Dave Winfield, Carl Yastrzemski and Robin Yount.

Parrish's inclusion was well deserved. He entered 1983 following an outstanding 1982 season, when he batted .284 with 32 home runs and 87 RBI, earning American League All-Star and Silver Slugger honors. He followed with an even bigger run-producing season in 1983, collecting 163 hits, 42 doubles, 27 home runs and a career-high 114 RBI.

The issue is also particularly interesting for player collectors because a separate Gold parallel of Parrish #30 exists, making the regular Super Stars Credit Card part of a small but distinctive Perma-Graphics run. Both the standard and Gold Parrish #30 are documented in hobby checklists.

One year later, Parrish helped lead Detroit to the 1984 World Series championship. He ultimately became one of the premier catchers of his generation, earning eight All-Star selections, six Silver Slugger Awards and three Gold Gloves while finishing his career with 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI.
