Lance Parrish Autographed 1983 Topps #285 Detroit Tigers Card

Parrish entered 1983 following an outstanding 1982 season, when he batted .284 with 138 hits, 32 home runs and 87 RBI while posting a .529 slugging percentage and .867 OPS. His performance earned him American League All-Star and Silver Slugger honors, and he finished 13th in AL MVP voting.

He followed with another outstanding year in 1983, appearing in 155 games and collecting 163 hits, a career-high 42 doubles, 27 home runs and a career-high 114 RBI. His 114 RBI ranked fourth in the American League, while his 42 doubles ranked third.

Parrish was equally impressive defensively. He caught 54 would-be base stealers in 1983, throwing out 48.6% of attempted runners. His combination of offense and defense earned him an All-Star selection, his first Gold Glove Award and another Silver Slugger Award, and he finished ninth in American League MVP voting.

The card also comes from immediately before Detroit's memorable 1984 World Series championship season. Parrish remained a centerpiece of the Tigers lineup, hitting 33 home runs with 98 RBI in 1984 while again earning All-Star, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger honors.

Parrish ultimately finished his 19-year Major League career with 1,782 hits, 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI, earning eight All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves and six Silver Slugger Awards.
