Add one of the more distinctive early-1990s issues to a Lance Parrish autograph collection with this 1991 Studio #29 California Angels card, personally autographed by the eight-time Major League All-Star, three-time Gold Glove winner, six-time Silver Slugger winner and 1984 World Series champion.

The 1991 Studio set stands apart from most baseball cards of its era because of its emphasis on portrait-style photography and player personality rather than traditional game-action imagery. The clean presentation makes Studio cards especially attractive when autographed and gives Parrish's #29 a very different appearance from his contemporary Donruss, Fleer, Leaf, Topps and Upper Deck cards.

Studio was introduced in 1991, making this Parrish card a first-year Studio issue. For collectors assembling extensive signed player runs, inaugural issues from long-running brands are particularly worthwhile because they represent a new chapter in baseball-card design rather than simply another annual base-set appearance.

The card pictures Parrish during his tenure with the California Angels, where he had enjoyed an outstanding 1990 campaign. That season Parrish batted .268 with 24 home runs and 70 RBI, produced 4.5 WAR and earned both American League All-Star and Silver Slugger honors.

Parrish remained California's primary catcher in 1991. At age 35, he appeared in 119 games, collecting 87 hits and 12 doubles while hitting 19 home runs with 51 RBI.

He was still handling a substantial defensive workload as well. Parrish appeared in 111 games at catcher and made 102 starts, logging 912 innings behind the plate. He committed only two errors and finished with an excellent .997 fielding percentage.

The 1991 season was Parrish's third full year with California. He would remain with the Angels for the beginning of 1992 before joining the Seattle Mariners later that season. His career eventually concluded after stops with Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Toronto.

Parrish finished his 19-year Major League career with 1,782 hits, 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI, numbers that place him among the most productive power-hitting catchers of his generation.
