Lance Parrish Autographed 1991 Bowman #374 California Angels Card

This one deserves a correction from my previous description: 1991 Bowman #374 is not simply a second regular Lance Parrish card. It is his Silver Slugger card, commemorating Parrish's outstanding 1990 season and his selection as the American League Silver Slugger Award winner at catcher. Multiple 1991 Bowman checklists specifically identify #374 as Lance Parrish's Silver Slugger issue, while his regular card in the set is #188.

That distinction makes #374 considerably more interesting for a Parrish autograph collection. Bowman grouped the 1990 Silver Slugger winners together at #367-384, beginning with Cecil Fielder and continuing with stars including Julio Franco, Alan Trammell, Rickey Henderson, Jose Canseco, Parrish, Eddie Murray, Ryne Sandberg, Barry Larkin, Barry Bonds and Darryl Strawberry. Parrish occupies #374, between Ellis Burks #373 and Dave Parker #375.

Parrish earned the honor after an exceptional 1990 season with the California Angels. At age 34, the veteran catcher batted .268 with 24 home runs and 70 RBI, demonstrating that more than a decade into his Major League career he remained one of baseball's premier offensive catchers.

The award was particularly significant within Parrish's career. It was his sixth Silver Slugger Award, adding to the five he had previously won during his years with the Detroit Tigers. Combined with his three Gold Gloves, the awards illustrate the rare combination of offensive power and defensive ability that made Parrish one of the most accomplished catchers of his era.
