Lance Parrish Autographed 1991 Bowman #188 California Angels Card

Add another California Angels issue to a deep Lance Parrish autograph collection with this 1991 Bowman #188, personally autographed by one of the premier power-hitting catchers of his generation. Beckett confirms Parrish as card #188 in the 1991 Bowman set.

This card follows Parrish's outstanding 1990 campaign, when the veteran catcher enjoyed a remarkable late-career resurgence with California. He hit .268 with 24 home runs and 70 RBI, producing a 123 OPS+ and 4.5 WAR while earning both American League All-Star and Silver Slugger honors.

Parrish remained the Angels' primary catcher in 1991. At age 35, he appeared in 119 games, collecting 87 hits, 12 doubles, 19 home runs and 51 RBI. His 19 homers ranked third on the club behind Dave Winfield and Wally Joyner and demonstrated that Parrish still possessed considerable power late in his career.

He continued to handle a substantial workload defensively as well. Parrish appeared in 111 games at catcher with 102 starts, working more than 900 innings behind the plate and posting an excellent .997 fielding percentage.

The card comes from Parrish's third full season with California. He had joined the Angels in 1989 following two years with Philadelphia and remained with the organization until partway through the 1992 season, when he moved to the Seattle Mariners.

By the end of his 19-year Major League career, Parrish had accumulated 1,782 hits, 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI. His rsum includes eight All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves, six Silver Slugger Awards and a central role as the starting catcher for the 1984 World Series Champion Detroit Tigers.
