Add a signed card from Lance Parrish's brief Philadelphia Phillies tenure with this 1988 Donruss #359, personally autographed by the eight-time Major League All-Star, three-time Gold Glove winner, six-time Silver Slugger winner and 1984 World Series champion.
The 1988 Donruss #359 is one of Parrish's mainstream cards that fully reflects his move to Philadelphia. After spending the first decade of his Major League career with the Detroit Tigers, Parrish signed with the Phillies before the 1987 season and became the club's primary catcher. He appeared in 130 games during his first Philadelphia season, collecting 114 hits, 21 doubles, 17 home runs and 67 RBI.
Parrish joined a Phillies roster featuring established stars including Mike Schmidt, Juan Samuel and Von Hayes. While his first season in Philadelphia did not match the offensive heights of his best Detroit years, he remained one of baseball's most accomplished catchers and supplied significant right-handed power in the Phillies lineup.
The 1988 season represented Parrish's second and final year in Philadelphia, and it produced another noteworthy accomplishment. Parrish was selected to the National League All-Star team, joining pitcher Kevin Gross as Philadelphia's representatives.
That selection was particularly significant because it made Parrish an All-Star in both leagues. His previous selections had come as a Detroit Tiger in the American League, while his 1988 appearance came as a Philadelphia Phillie in the National League. It was the eighth and final All-Star selection of his career.
Parrish appeared in 123 games for Philadelphia in 1988, hitting 15 home runs with 60 RBI. Behind the plate, he started 114 games and caught more than 997 innings for the Phillies.
Following the season, Parrish moved on to the California Angels, ending his two-year stay in Philadelphia. He eventually completed a 19-year Major League career with 1,782 hits, 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI, while earning eight All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves and six Silver Slugger Awards.
