Add a classic Philadelphia Phillies flagship issue of Lance Parrish with this 1988 Topps #95, personally autographed by the eight-time Major League All-Star, three-time Gold Glove winner, six-time Silver Slugger winner and 1984 World Series champion.
The 1988 Topps #95 represents Parrish during his second and final season with the Phillies. Unlike his regular 1987 Topps cards, which still pictured him with Detroit before Topps Traded caught up with his move, this card fully reflects the Philadelphia chapter of his career.
Parrish joined the Phillies for the 1987 season after spending the first decade of his Major League career with the Detroit Tigers. He immediately became Philadelphia's primary catcher, appearing in 130 games and collecting 114 hits, 21 doubles, 17 home runs and 67 RBI during his first year with the club.
The following season brought another important career milestone. Parrish was selected to the 1988 National League All-Star team, joining pitcher Kevin Gross as Philadelphia's representatives. It was the eighth All-Star selection of Parrish's career and his first representing a National League club.
Parrish appeared in 123 games during 1988, finishing with 91 hits, 17 doubles, 15 home runs and 60 RBI. He remained Philadelphia's primary catcher, starting 114 games behind the plate and catching more than 997 innings.
His 1988 All-Star appearance is particularly notable within Parrish's career. His previous seven selections came during his years in the American League, while his eighth came as a Phillie in the National League. The 1988 appearance would also be the final All-Star selection of his career.
Following the season, Parrish joined the California Angels, bringing his two-year Philadelphia tenure to a close. He eventually completed a 19-year Major League career with 1,782 hits, 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI. His impressive rsum includes eight All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves, six Silver Slugger Awards and the 1984 World Series championship with Detroit.
