Lance Parrish Autographed 1987 Topps #613 Detroit Tigers Card

Add one of the most recognizable transitional-year Lance Parrish issues with this 1987 Topps #613 card featuring him with the Detroit Tigers, personally autographed by the eight-time All-Star catcher and key member of Detroit's 1984 World Series championship team.

The 1987 Topps #613 comes from the famous woodgrain-bordered Topps set and represents the conclusion of Parrish's original decade-long run with Detroit. Although issued for the 1987 season, the card still features Parrish as a Tiger. He became a free agent following the 1986 campaign and joined the Philadelphia Phillies for 1987, making this one of his final flagship cards from his original Detroit tenure.

Parrish's final season with Detroit was abbreviated by injuries, but his production remained outstanding. In only 91 games during 1986, he batted .257 with 84 hits, 22 home runs and 62 RBI, while posting a .340 on-base percentage, .483 slugging percentage and .824 OPS. His 122 OPS+ further demonstrates how productive he remained at the plate.

That performance earned Parrish another American League All-Star selection and Silver Slugger Award. It was his fifth consecutive All-Star selection from 1982 through 1986 and continued a tremendous run in which Parrish established himself among baseball's elite offensive catchers.

His Detroit years were highlighted by the unforgettable 1984 World Series championship. Parrish was a major part of that dominant Tigers club, hitting 33 home runs with 98 RBI during the regular season while earning All-Star, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger honors.

The #613 is especially appealing within a comprehensive Parrish autograph run because it provides the flagship Topps counterpart to his 1987 Donruss #91 and Fleer #160 Detroit issues. His later 1987 Update releases began documenting the next chapter of his career with Philadelphia.

Parrish ultimately completed a 19-year Major League career with 1,782 hits, 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI, earning eight All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves and six Silver Slugger Awards.
