Lance Parrish Autographed 1984 Topps Nestle Dream Team #8 Detroit Tigers Card

Add a terrific food-issue variation from the Detroit Tigers' championship season with this 1984 Topps Nestle Dream Team #8 Lance Parrish card, personally autographed by the eight-time All-Star catcher and key member of the 1984 World Series Champion Detroit Tigers.

The 1984 Topps Nestle Dream Team is a distinctive 23-card promotional set featuring a carefully selected group of Major League stars. Parrish is correctly cataloged as card #8, joining a strong checklist that includes Eddie Murray, Lou Whitaker, George Brett, Cal Ripken Jr., Jim Rice, Dave Winfield and other prominent players of the era.

These cards are easily distinguished from standard 1984 Topps issues. The fronts feature white borders surrounding a brown, yellow and orange inner frame with the Nestle logo incorporated into the design. The backs closely resemble the players' regular 1984 Topps cards, but carry the Dream Team numbering and Nestle identification instead.

Parrish's inclusion was certainly deserved. He entered 1984 after an outstanding 1983 season, when he batted .269 with 163 hits, a career-high 42 doubles, 27 home runs and a career-high 114 RBI. He earned an All-Star selection, his first Gold Glove and another Silver Slugger Award while finishing ninth in American League MVP voting.

The timing makes this particular issue even more appealing. In 1984, Parrish remained one of the central figures in Detroit's lineup, appearing in 147 games and leading the club with 33 home runs and 98 RBI. He again earned All-Star, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger honors as the Tigers raced to a 104-win season.

Detroit then completed its remarkable season by defeating the San Diego Padres in the 1984 World Series. Parrish played all five games and hit .278 with a home run and two RBI in the Series, with his home run coming during Detroit's championship-clinching Game 5 victory.

Parrish ultimately finished his 19-year Major League career with 1,782 hits, 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI, earning eight All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves and six Silver Slugger Awards.
