Add a signed card of future Silver Slugger catcher Michael Barrett with this 2004 Donruss #306 Montreal Expos issue.
This card comes from the 2004 Donruss flagship set, a 400-card release that debuted in late 2003 and marked the return of Donruss' popular short-printed subsets. The set features Diamond Kings, Rated Rookies, Team Checklists, and a strong veteran checklist while maintaining the colorful photography and foil accents that made Donruss one of baseball's most recognizable brands. Michael Barrett appears as card #306 in the regular base set.
Selected by the Montreal Expos with the 28th overall pick in the first round of the 1995 MLB Draft, Michael Barrett enjoyed an 11-year Major League career with the Montreal Expos, Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres, and Toronto Blue Jays. Originally drafted as a shortstop, Barrett successfully transitioned to catcher in the minor leagues and developed into one of the National League's premier offensive backstops. He finished his career with 98 home runs, 424 RBIs, a .263 batting average, earned the 2005 National League Silver Slugger Award, and was selected to the 2005 National League All-Star Team.
Although issued as a 2004 Donruss card, it pictures Barrett during the closing chapter of his Montreal Expos career. Shortly after the card's release, he was traded to the Chicago Cubs, where he blossomed into one of the National League's top offensive catchers. As one of his final mainstream Expos cards, it serves as an important collectible from the franchise's final seasons in Montreal.
