Add a signed card of future Silver Slugger catcher Michael Barrett with this 2004 Topps #132 Montreal Expos issue.
This card comes from the flagship 2004 Topps baseball set, a 732-card release issued in two series that continued Topps' tradition as the hobby's flagship baseball card brand. Featuring the familiar white-bordered design, crisp photography, and a comprehensive checklist of stars, veterans, and rookies, the set remains a favorite among player, team, and Topps collectors. Michael Barrett appears as card #132 in Series One.
Selected by the Montreal Expos with the 28th overall pick in the first round of the 1995 MLB Draft, Michael Barrett enjoyed an 11-year Major League career with the Montreal Expos, Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres, and Toronto Blue Jays. Originally drafted as a shortstop, Barrett successfully transitioned to catcher in the minor leagues and developed into one of the National League's premier offensive backstops. He finished his career with 98 home runs, 424 RBIs, a .263 batting average, earned the 2005 National League Silver Slugger Award, and was selected to the 2005 National League All-Star Team.
Although issued as a 2004 Topps card, this release represents the final chapter of Barrett's time with the Montreal Expos. Following the 2003 season, he was traded to the Chicago Cubs, where he would become an All-Star and one of the National League's top offensive catchers. As one of his last flagship Topps cards featuring the Expos, it holds special appeal for collectors of the franchise's final seasons.
