This is a particularly interesting late-career oddball issue for a comprehensive Lance Parrish collection. The 1995 Donruss Top of the Order card features Parrish as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays, the final Major League team of his distinguished 19-year career.

Unlike traditional Donruss baseball cards, Top of the Order cards are unnumbered (NNO). The 1995 release contains a large 360-card checklist, with players identified by name rather than conventional card numbers. That unusual format makes the set a nice departure from Parrish's standard Donruss issues and gives the autographed card additional oddball appeal.

The Toronto connection is especially significant. After playing for Pittsburgh in 1994, Parrish entered 1995 at age 39 and ultimately joined the Blue Jays for what became his final Major League season. He appeared in 70 games for Toronto, including 49 starts behind the plate, collecting 36 hits, nine doubles, four home runs and 22 RBI.

One of the highlights of Parrish's final season came against the organization with which he had built his reputation. On May 29, 1995, Parrish homered twice against the Detroit Tigers, providing a memorable late-career performance against his former club.

Parrish played his final Major League game in September 1995, closing a career that had begun with Detroit in 1977. He retired with 1,782 hits, 305 doubles, 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI, along with a .252 career batting average.

His accomplishments went well beyond the counting statistics. Parrish was an eight-time All-Star, three-time Gold Glove winner and six-time Silver Slugger winner, and he was the primary catcher for the dominant 1984 World Series Champion Detroit Tigers.

For the Parrish run, this is one I'd definitely highlight more than an ordinary 1995 common. You have three good selling points working together: the unusual Top of the Order/NNO format, the Toronto Blue Jays uniform, and the fact that Toronto was Parrish's final Major League team. That makes it an excellent addition for collectors of Lance Parrish autographs, Toronto Blue Jays memorabilia, Donruss oddball issues, 1995 Top of the Order cards, final-season cards, or comprehensive signed player collections.
