This is a nice upgrade from Parrish's regular 1993 Topps #609. The 1993 Topps Gold #609 is the gold-foil parallel of his Seattle Mariners flagship card, personally autographed by the eight-time Major League All-Star, three-time Gold Glove winner, six-time Silver Slugger winner and starting catcher for the 1984 World Series Champion Detroit Tigers.
The 1993 Topps Gold set paralleled the entire 825-card Topps release, with the standard color-coded player-name stripe replaced by an embossed gold-foil stripe and a gold-foil Topps Gold logo added to the front. Beckett confirms that Gold cards were distributed one per wax pack, three per rack pack, five per jumbo pack and ten per factory set.
That's an important difference from the 1992 Topps Gold cards we just covered. Topps dramatically increased the availability of Gold parallels for 1993, moving from roughly one per wax box in 1992 to one per wax pack in 1993. There was also no Gold Winner version of Parrish #609 in 1993; the "Winner" promotion that year applied to the separate Black Gold insert program, not the regular Topps Gold parallel.
Parrish's #609 is confirmed in the Gold parallel with the Seattle Mariners, making it a distinct card from his regular Topps #609. While the unsigned card isn't particularly expensive today, the Gold version is unquestionably less common than the regular base issue; current hobby listings distinguish and price #609 separately as a Gold parallel.
The card represents Parrish's brief stay with the Seattle Mariners. After beginning 1992 with California, Parrish joined Seattle and appeared in only 69 games, hitting eight home runs with 21 RBI. That short tenure resulted in relatively few mainstream cards depicting Parrish as a Mariner compared with the large number showing him with Detroit, Philadelphia and California.
That combination makes this card particularly appealing within the Parrish run. It's both a short-tenure Mariners issue and an early Topps parallel, giving the signed Gold #609 more collecting interest than the standard 1993 Topps version.

For the Parrish run, I'd definitely value the signed Gold #609 above the regular Topps #609, although not by the same margin as the tougher 1992 Topps Gold. The combination of the Gold parallel, Parrish's short Seattle tenure and the fact that we're getting deeper into the early parallel era makes this an excellent addition for collectors of Lance Parrish autographs, Seattle Mariners memorabilia, Topps Gold parallels, 1993 Topps baseball cards, or comprehensive signed player collections.
