Add an attractive early Stadium Club issue from Lance Parrish's brief Seattle Mariners tenure with this 1993 Stadium Club #252, personally autographed by the eight-time Major League All-Star, three-time Gold Glove winner, six-time Silver Slugger winner and starting catcher for the 1984 World Series Champion Detroit Tigers.

The 1993 Stadium Club #252 is particularly nice within the Parrish run because it combines two collecting angles we've been seeing in these later-career cards: an early premium Stadium Club release and Parrish's relatively short-lived appearance in a Seattle Mariners uniform. Stadium Club had debuted only two years earlier, and the brand's emphasis on large, photography-driven designs gave these cards a much different look from traditional bordered Topps issues.

This card continued Parrish's Stadium Club run after his 1991 #166 and 1992 #94 California Angels cards, but #252 reflects his move to Seattle. Parrish joined the Mariners during the 1992 season after beginning the year with California, making Seattle one of the shortest stops of his 19-year Major League career.

Parrish appeared in only 69 games for the Mariners, batting .234 with 45 hits, 11 doubles, one triple, eight home runs and 21 RBI. He posted a .304 on-base percentage, .427 slugging percentage and .731 OPS, with a 103 OPS+, showing that his offensive production remained slightly above league average at age 36.

His role was evolving by this point in his career. Parrish appeared at catcher, first base and designated hitter for Seattle rather than carrying the everyday catching workload that had defined his prime years with Detroit.

Although this Stadium Club card was issued in 1993, Parrish's Seattle stay had already ended. He appeared in 10 Major League games for Cleveland in 1993, making #252 a transition-era card that preserves his brief Mariners chapter after he had moved on.

That short tenure is what gives Parrish's Seattle cards some added appeal within a comprehensive signed run. He has far fewer Mariners issues than Detroit, Philadelphia or California cards, and the premium photographic presentation of Stadium Club makes this one especially attractive as an autographed example.

For the Parrish run, I like this one a little better than the ordinary Donruss, Fleer or Score Seattle issues. Stadium Club was still a relatively young premium brand in 1993, and its photography-driven design combined with Parrish's short 69-game Mariners stint gives the signed #252 a couple of legitimate collecting angles. It's an excellent addition for collectors of Lance Parrish autographs, Seattle Mariners memorabilia, early Stadium Club cards, premium 1990s issues, short-tenure player cards, or comprehensive signed player collections.
