Add a distinctive oversized All-Star issue from the end of Lance Parrish's original Detroit Tigers tenure with this 1987 Donruss All-Stars #9 card, personally autographed by the eight-time Major League All-Star and 1984 World Series champion.

The 1987 Donruss All-Stars, also commonly cataloged as Donruss Action All-Stars, continued the company's popular oversized format. These cards measure approximately 3" x 5" and were distributed in cello packs. Parrish is correctly cataloged as #9, appearing in a star-filled run alongside players such as Kirby Puckett, Cal Ripken Jr., Rickey Henderson, Wade Boggs, Roger Clemens, Darryl Strawberry and Ryne Sandberg.

The oversized dimensions make the card particularly attractive as an autographed piece, providing substantially more room for Parrish's signature than a traditional baseball card. It also gives collectors another distinctly different issue from his regular 1987 Donruss #91.

This card commemorates Parrish's selection to the 1986 American League All-Star team. Despite battling back problems that limited him to only 91 games, Parrish was outstanding during the first half of 1986, entering the All-Star break with 21 home runs and 59 RBI.

Parrish ultimately finished the season batting .257 with 22 home runs and 62 RBI, along with a .340 on-base percentage, .483 slugging percentage and .824 OPS. He was also awarded the American League Silver Slugger Award, recognizing him as the league's top offensive catcher.

The 1986 All-Star selection was Parrish's fifth consecutive appearance from 1982 through 1986 and his sixth overall at that point. He had developed into one of the defining catchers of the decade, combining significant power with excellent defense behind the plate.

The card also represents an interesting transitional period. Parrish's contract with Detroit expired following the 1986 season, and he joined the Philadelphia Phillies for 1987. As a result, this Donruss All-Stars issue still depicts and identifies him with the Tigers while commemorating his final All-Star season during his original Detroit tenure.

Parrish's Detroit years were highlighted by the 1984 World Series championship, when he was part of the talented Tigers core that also included Alan Trammell, Lou Whitaker, Jack Morris and Kirk Gibson. He eventually completed his 19-year career with 1,782 hits, 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI, earning eight All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves and six Silver Slugger Awards.
