Lance Parrish Autographed 1983 Topps - All-Star Set Collector's Edition (Glossy Send-Ins) #27 Detroit Tigers Card

Add a distinctive mail-away issue of one of the premier catchers of the 1980s with this 1983 Topps All-Star Set Collector's Edition Glossy Send-Ins #27 Lance Parrish card featuring him with the Detroit Tigers, personally autographed by the future World Series champion.

This is not Parrish's standard 1983 Topps card. The 1983 Topps Glossy Send-Ins were available through a special collector redemption program. Each regular 1983 Topps pack contained a Winning Line-Up game card, and collectors who accumulated 25 "Bonus Runs" could mail them to Topps along with 50 cents for postage and handling to receive a five-card pack of Glossy Send-Ins.

The complete mail-away set contained only 40 cards, with Parrish correctly appearing as #27. The compact checklist included many of baseball's biggest stars, including Carl Yastrzemski, Robin Yount, Dave Winfield, Mike Schmidt, Gary Carter, Nolan Ryan, Rod Carew, George Brett, Rickey Henderson, Steve Carlton, Eddie Murray and Reggie Jackson.

The cards also stand apart visually from standard 1983 Topps issues because of their glossy fronts and upgraded card stock. The reverse identifies the release as the "All-Star Set Collector's Edition," while hobby catalogs commonly refer to the cards as Glossy Send-Ins.

Parrish was an ideal choice for the star-focused checklist. He entered 1983 after batting .284 with 32 home runs and 87 RBI in 1982, earning American League All-Star and Silver Slugger honors. He followed with another tremendous season in 1983, collecting 163 hits, 42 doubles, 27 home runs and a career-high 114 RBI while earning All-Star, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger honors.

One year later, Parrish was a centerpiece of the dominant 1984 Detroit Tigers, helping the club capture the World Series championship. He ultimately became an eight-time All-Star, six-time Silver Slugger winner and three-time Gold Glove winner, finishing his 19-year Major League career with 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI.
