Lance Parrish Autographed 1981 Fleer #467 Detroit Tigers Card

Add an important first-year Fleer issue of one of the premier catchers of the 1980s with this 1981 Fleer #467 Lance Parrish card featuring him with the Detroit Tigers, personally autographed by the future eight-time Major League All-Star.

The 1981 Fleer set marked Fleer's return to the traditional baseball card market and, along with Donruss, helped usher in a new era of competition in the hobby. Parrish's #467 therefore represents his first Fleer card, making it an excellent companion to his first-year 1981 Donruss #366 issue.

This card was released immediately following Parrish's breakout 1980 season. At just 24 years old, Detroit's young catcher batted .286 with 158 hits, 34 doubles, six triples, 24 home runs and 82 RBI in 144 games. He posted an .825 OPS and 121 OPS+ while establishing himself as one of the American League's emerging stars.

Parrish's performance earned him his first Major League All-Star selection and first Silver Slugger Award in 1980. Those honors began a remarkable stretch that would eventually make him one of the most decorated catchers of his generation.

During the strike-shortened 1981 season, Parrish remained Detroit's primary catcher, appearing in 96 games and collecting 85 hits, 18 doubles, 10 home runs and 46 RBI. He was already part of the young Tigers nucleus that would develop into a championship club over the next several seasons.

Parrish's Detroit career ultimately peaked with the unforgettable 1984 World Series championship season. He led the Tigers with 33 home runs and 98 RBI, earned All-Star honors and won both a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Award. He also homered in the decisive Game 5 of the World Series against the San Diego Padres.
