Own an autographed 1989 Classic Travel #146 baseball card personally signed by Juan Samuel, featuring the dynamic second baseman with the Philadelphia Phillies. This distinctive Classic specialty issue comes from Samuel's final season with Philadelphia and offers an appealing alternative to the mainstream Topps, Donruss, Fleer, and Score cards of the era.

The 1989 Classic Travel release was part of Classic's line of baseball cards produced during the late 1980s. Classic issues are particularly popular with comprehensive player collectors because they provide additional cards beyond the traditional major-brand releases. Card #146 features Juan Samuel with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Samuel entered the 1989 season as one of the most recognizable members of the Phillies. He had burst onto the Major League scene during his first full season in 1984, batting .272 with 15 home runs, 69 RBIs, 19 triples, and 72 stolen bases. His 72 steals established a Phillies single-season record at the time, while his 19 triples led the National League. Samuel earned his first MLB All-Star selection and finished second in National League Rookie of the Year voting.

His combination of speed and extra-base power continued to distinguish him throughout the decade. Samuel again led the National League in triples in 1985, and in 1987 he enjoyed one of the finest seasons of his career, batting .272 with career highs of 28 home runs and 100 RBIs, along with 15 triples and 35 stolen bases. That performance earned him his second All-Star selection.

The 1989 season marked the end of Samuel's successful run in Philadelphia. In June, the Phillies traded him to the New York Mets in the notable deal that brought Lenny Dykstra and Roger McDowell to Philadelphia. Samuel would continue his Major League career with several clubs and earn a third All-Star selection with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1991.

A three-time MLB All-Star, Samuel enjoyed a 16-year Major League career and finished with 1,578 hits, 161 home runs, 396 stolen bases, and 102 triples. His combination of power and speed made him one of Philadelphia's most exciting players of the 1980s, and he later returned to the Phillies organization as a coach.

Personally signed by Juan Samuel, this 1989 Classic Travel #146 is an appealing specialty card from the final season of Samuel's original tenure with the Philadelphia Phillies.
