Own an autographed 1988 Leaf #146 baseball card personally signed by Juan Samuel, featuring the dynamic second baseman with the Philadelphia Phillies. This Canadian Leaf issue offers collectors a distinctive and more limited alternative to Samuel's regular 1988 Donruss card and captures him during the prime of his Phillies career.

The 1988 Leaf baseball set was the Canadian counterpart to Donruss' regular Major League release, featuring a condensed checklist selected from the larger Donruss set. Produced for the Canadian market in substantially smaller quantities than standard Donruss cards, Leaf issues have long been popular with player collectors seeking scarcer variations of familiar 1980s designs. Card #146 features Juan Samuel with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Samuel entered 1988 following one of the finest seasons of his career. In 1987, he batted .272 with career highs of 28 home runs and 100 RBIs, while adding 15 triples and 35 stolen bases. His exceptional combination of power, speed, and extra-base ability earned him his second National League All-Star selection.

Samuel had established himself as one of baseball's most exciting players during his first full Major League season in 1984. He batted .272 with 15 home runs, 69 RBIs, 19 triples, and 72 stolen bases. His 72 steals established a Phillies single-season record at the time, while his 19 triples led the National League. Samuel earned his first All-Star selection and finished second in National League Rookie of the Year voting. He again led the league in triples in 1985.

During 1988, Samuel remained a dangerous offensive weapon for Philadelphia, collecting 36 doubles, 12 home runs, and 33 stolen bases. His ability to combine extra-base power with elite speed made him one of the most distinctive middle infielders of his era.

A three-time MLB All-Star, Samuel enjoyed a 16-year Major League career and finished with 1,578 hits, 161 home runs, 396 stolen bases, and 102 triples. He later returned to the Phillies organization as a coach, extending his association with Philadelphia well beyond his playing career.

Personally signed by Juan Samuel, this 1988 Leaf #146 combines a Canadian-market Leaf issue with the autograph of one of the Phillies' most dynamic players of the 1980s.
