A late-career minor league issue featuring one of the most recognizable power hitters of his era, this Tony Batista autographed 2007 Choice Columbus Clippers #05 card captures Batista during his time in the Washington Nationals organization. Choice team sets are popular with collectors for documenting minor league rosters and players whose appearances may not be represented in mainstream Major League releases.

After playing for the Minnesota Twins in 2006, Batista joined the Washington Nationals organization for 2007 and spent time with the Triple-A Columbus Clippers. The assignment brought an interesting connection full circle, as Batista had played for the Montreal Expos during the franchises final season in 2004 before the club relocated to Washington.

By this stage of his career, Batista had already established an impressive Major League rsum. He was an American League All-Star with Toronto in 2000 and Baltimore in 2002, and his 2000 season with the Blue Jays produced career highs of 41 home runs and 114 RBI. He also hit 32 home runs with a career-high 110 RBI for Montreal in 2004.

Batista was particularly memorable for his extraordinarily wide-open batting stance, but he also provided substantial power throughout his Major League career. Over 11 MLB seasons, he collected 1,146 hits, 221 home runs and 718 RBI, including three seasons with at least 30 home runs.

Minor league team-set cards can provide unique additions to a player collection because they document stops that often received little or no representation in nationally distributed sets. The 2007 Choice Columbus Clippers #05 is an appealing late-career Batista issue for Columbus Clippers collectors, Washington Nationals organization collectors, minor league card enthusiasts or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
