Add an Arizona Diamondbacks issue from Tony Batistas breakout season with this Tony Batista autographed 1999 Fleer Tradition #81 Arizona Diamondbacks card. Part of Fleers 1999 Tradition release, card #81 features Batista during his second season with Arizona and just before his emergence as one of the more productive power-hitting infielders in baseball.
Batista began the 1999 season as Arizonas shortstop, appearing in 44 games with five home runs and 21 RBI before being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in June. The move proved to be a turning point in his career. Batista immediately became an impact player in Toronto, hitting 26 home runs with 79 RBI in 98 games for the Blue Jays.
Combined between Arizona and Toronto, Batista finished his breakout 1999 campaign batting .277 with 31 home runs and 100 RBI. He followed that performance with an even bigger season in 2000, blasting a career-high 41 home runs with 114 RBI and earning his first American League All-Star selection.
Batista went on to become a two-time MLB All-Star and finished his Major League career with 1,146 hits, 221 home runs and 718 RBI. The 1999 Fleer Tradition #81 captures Batista at the beginning of his breakout season and is an excellent addition for Arizona Diamondbacks collectors, Tony Batista fans, Fleer Tradition collectors or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
