Add a late-career Pittsburgh issue of veteran outfielder Sixto Lezcano with this Sixto Lezcano autographed 1985 Fleer Update #U-72 Pittsburgh Pirates card. The Fleer Update set documented players who changed teams or emerged after the regular 1985 Fleer release, with #U-72 capturing Lezcano during his brief tenure with Pittsburgh.

Lezcano joined the Pirates in 1985 after spending the previous two seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies. He appeared in 72 games for Pittsburgh, providing the club with an experienced right-handed bat during what proved to be his final Major League season.

His best years came with the Milwaukee Brewers, where he developed into a dangerous combination of power and defense. In 1979, Lezcano enjoyed a career year, batting .321 with 28 home runs and 101 RBI while posting a .987 OPS. His performance earned him his first Gold Glove Award in right field.

Lezcano won a second Gold Glove in 1984 with Philadelphia and was also part of the 1983 National League champion Phillies, appearing in both the NLCS and World Series. He holds a particularly memorable place in Opening Day history as the only player to hit a grand slam on Opening Day twice, accomplishing the feat for Milwaukee in 1978 and 1980.

Lezcano played 12 Major League seasons with the Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres, Phillies and Pirates, finishing with 148 home runs and 591 RBI. As a team-change issue documenting the final stop of his Major League career, the 1985 Fleer Update #U-72 is an excellent addition for Pittsburgh Pirates collectors, Sixto Lezcano fans, Fleer Update set collectors or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
