Featuring Sixto Lezcano during the latter portion of his Major League career, this Sixto Lezcano autographed 1985 Fleer #258 Philadelphia Phillies card captures the strong-armed outfielder following his two seasons in Philadelphia. Lezcano brought both power and outstanding defense to the Phillies after establishing himself as a standout with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Lezcano enjoyed his finest all-around season with Milwaukee in 1979, batting .321 with 28 home runs, 101 RBI and a .987 OPS. His performance earned him a Gold Glove Award, and he established himself as one of the American Leagues most productive right fielders. He later earned a second Gold Glove with Philadelphia in 1984.
Lezcano joined the Phillies for the 1983 season and contributed to the veteran-laden Wheeze Kids club that captured the National League pennant. He appeared in 126 regular-season games, hitting .266 with 15 home runs and 54 RBI as Philadelphia won the National League East.
He was particularly productive during the 1983 postseason. Lezcano hit two home runs during the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, helping Philadelphia win the series in four games and advance to the World Series against Baltimore. He remained with the Phillies in 1984 before finishing his Major League career with Pittsburgh in 1985.
Lezcano played 12 Major League seasons with the Brewers, Cardinals, Padres, Phillies and Pirates, finishing with 148 home runs and 591 RBI. He also holds the unusual distinction of hitting a grand slam on Opening Day twice.
