Add an early-career issue of left-handed pitcher Pat Perry with this Pat Perry autographed 1986 Fleer Update #U-89 St. Louis Cardinals card. The Fleer Update set provided collectors with players who emerged or changed roles during the season, and Perrys #U-89 card features him during his first full Major League campaign with St. Louis.
Perry made his Major League debut with the Cardinals in September 1985 before earning a larger role on the pitching staff in 1986. Working exclusively in relief, he appeared in 40 games and posted a 2.84 ERA, establishing himself as an effective left-handed option out of the St. Louis bullpen.
He remained with the Cardinals in 1987 as St. Louis captured the National League East championship and National League pennant. Perry made 39 regular-season relief appearances and also pitched during the postseason, appearing in both the National League Championship Series against San Francisco and the World Series against Minnesota.
Perry spent parts of six Major League seasons with the Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers. He finished his career with a 3.46 ERA in 212 appearances, with all but one of those outings coming as a reliever.
The 1986 Fleer Update #U-89 is an appealing early Pat Perry issue with ties to the Cardinals clubs of the mid-1980s and is an excellent addition for St. Louis collectors, Fleer Update set collectors or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
