Michael Barrett Autographed 1998 Donruss Signature Series #137 Montreal Expos Card
Add a signed early-career card of future Silver Slugger catcher Michael Barrett with this 1998 Donruss Signature Series #137 Montreal Expos issue.
The 1998 Donruss Signature Series set is one of the hobby's most innovative releases of the 1990s. While best known for helping popularize certified autograph cards, the base set also features many of baseball's top stars, rookies, and prospects. Michael Barrett's #137 card showcases one of the Montreal Expos' brightest young talents during the early stages of his professional career.
Selected by the Montreal Expos with the 28th overall pick in the first round of the 1995 MLB Draft, Michael Barrett went on to enjoy an 11-year Major League career with the Montreal Expos, Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres, and Toronto Blue Jays. Originally drafted as a shortstop, Barrett successfully transitioned to catcher in the minor leagues and developed into one of the National League's premier offensive backstops. He finished his career with 98 home runs, 424 RBIs, a .263 batting average, and earned the 2005 National League Silver Slugger Award.
Issued while Barrett was still one of the Expos' top prospects, this card represents an important early issue from a set that has become synonymous with autograph collecting. Although the set is famous for its certified autographs, this example is personally signed by Michael Barrett, making it an outstanding collectible for player and Expos fans alike.
