Add another card from one of the shortest team stops of Lance Parrish's accomplished career with this 1995 Fleer #487 Pittsburgh Pirates card, personally autographed by the eight-time Major League All-Star, three-time Gold Glove winner, six-time Silver Slugger winner and starting catcher for the 1984 World Series Champion Detroit Tigers.

The 1995 Fleer #487 is correctly listed as Lance Parrish in the Pittsburgh Pirates portion of the set, appearing between Denny Neagle #486 and Don Slaught #488. Although issued in 1995, the card reflects Parrish's 1994 season with Pittsburgh; by the 1995 season, he had joined the Toronto Blue Jays for the final year of his Major League career.

Parrish's Pittsburgh tenure was remarkably brief. He appeared in only 40 games for the Pirates during the strike-shortened 1994 season, but the 38-year-old veteran performed well in his limited opportunity. Parrish batted .270 with 34 hits, five doubles, three home runs and 16 RBI in 126 at-bats. He also drew 18 walks, helping him post a strong .363 on-base percentage and .744 OPS.

Behind the plate, Parrish appeared in 38 games at catcher, making 35 starts, and also made one appearance at first base. Pittsburgh would be the next-to-last Major League stop of his career before he finished with Toronto in 1995.

That short tenure is what gives the 1995 Fleer #487 extra interest within a deep Parrish autograph run. Parrish spent ten seasons with Detroit and four with California, but his Pirates career lasted only those 40 games in 1994. As a result, there are comparatively few mainstream cards depicting him in a Pittsburgh uniform.

The 1995 Fleer design also makes this one visually distinctive from many of Parrish's earlier cards. Fleer's bold, colorful mid-1990s presentation is unmistakable, and a signed example provides a nice representation of a team affiliation that can easily be missed when building a career-spanning Parrish collection.

The signed Fleer is an excellent addition for collectors of Lance Parrish autographs, Pittsburgh Pirates memorabilia, 1995 Fleer baseball cards, short-tenure player issues, or comprehensive signed player collections.
