This is the other important 1992 Topps Gold variation for a comprehensive Lance Parrish collection. The 1992 Topps Gold Winner #360 parallels Parrish's regular Topps #360 and Topps Gold #360, but carries the distinctive Winner gold-foil designation on the front, identifying it as a card distributed through Topps' Match-the-Stats promotion. The Gold Winners are recognized as a separate parallel set by both Beckett and PSA.

The story behind the Gold Winner cards is one of the more interesting quirks of 1990s collecting. Each pack of 1992 Topps included a Match-the-Stats game card. Collectors accumulated Runs, and for every 100 Runs plus a $2 handling fee, they could redeem for a 10-card pack of Topps Gold cards. The promotional versions were distinguished by the word Winner stamped in gold foil on the front.

That makes this card legitimately different from the 1992 Topps Gold #360 we just covered. The standard Gold parallel features the gold-foil name treatment without the Winner designation, while this version carries the additional Winner foil stamp. Both should be represented separately in a truly comprehensive Parrish autograph run.

Interestingly, the regular Topps Gold is actually the tougher of the two Gold versions. The Match-the-Stats promotion proved extremely popular, and the Gold Winner cards were distributed in noticeably greater quantities than the standard Gold parallels. So despite the Winner name, collectors should not automatically assume this version is scarcer than the regular Gold.

Parrish's #360 features him during the closing chapter of his California Angels career. The 1992 season would be his last with California; he appeared in 24 games for the Angels before continuing the season with the Seattle Mariners.

His Angels tenure was highlighted by an outstanding 1990 season, when Parrish hit .268 with 24 home runs and 70 RBI while earning his eighth career All-Star selection and sixth Silver Slugger Award. He ultimately completed a 19-year Major League career with 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI, along with three Gold Gloves and a World Series championship as the starting catcher for the 1984 Detroit Tigers.

For the Parrish run, I would definitely keep all three #360 versions separate: 1992 Topps #360, Topps Gold #360 and Topps Gold Winner #360. The Winner isn't as scarce as the standard Gold, but its distinctive promotional origin makes it a worthwhile signed variation and exactly the kind of card that adds depth to a comprehensive player collection.
