Lance Parrish Autographed 1991 Donruss #135 California Angels Card

This card was issued immediately following one of Parrish's finest seasons after leaving Detroit. In 1990, Parrish enjoyed an outstanding year for California, batting .268 with 24 home runs, 70 RBI and 126 hits in 133 games. His performance earned him his eighth and final All-Star selection as well as the sixth Silver Slugger Award of his career.

Parrish's 1990 season demonstrated that he remained one of baseball's top offensive catchers well into his 30s. He produced a 123 OPS+ and 4.5 WAR, while making 125 starts behind the plate.

The 1991 Donruss #135 therefore captures Parrish coming directly off an All-Star and Silver Slugger season, giving the card more significance than a typical later-career issue. He remained with California throughout 1991, hitting another 19 home runs with 51 RBI in 119 games.

Parrish had already built an impressive rsum before joining the Angels. The longtime Detroit Tigers star was a central part of the 1984 World Series championship team and ultimately earned eight All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves and six Silver Slugger Awards. He finished his 19-year Major League career with 324 home runs, 1,070 RBI and 1,782 hits.
