Add an interesting final Philadelphia Phillies carryover issue to a Lance Parrish autograph collection with this 1989 Fleer #578, personally autographed by the eight-time Major League All-Star, three-time Gold Glove winner, six-time Silver Slugger winner and 1984 World Series champion.

The 1989 Fleer #578 still features Parrish with the Philadelphia Phillies, even though his two-year Philadelphia tenure had ended following the 1988 season. Parrish moved to the California Angels for 1989, making this one of those appealing transitional cards that preserves his previous team affiliation while his career was already moving into its next chapter. Parrish played for Philadelphia in 1987 and 1988 before beginning his Angels tenure in 1989.

The card therefore pairs particularly well with Parrish's 1989 Bowman #45 and 1989 Donruss Baseball's Best #59, which show him with California. Together, the different 1989 releases document the hobby's transition from his Phillies years to his new Angels affiliation.

Parrish's final season in Philadelphia included an important career milestone. He was selected to the 1988 National League All-Star team, representing the Phillies alongside pitcher Kevin Gross. It was Parrish's eighth career All-Star selection and his first representing a National League club.

During that 1988 season, Parrish appeared in 123 games, collecting 91 hits, 17 doubles, 15 home runs and 60 RBI. He remained Philadelphia's primary catcher, appearing in 117 games behind the plate and making 114 starts.

Parrish's stay in Philadelphia was relatively brief compared with his long Detroit tenure, which makes the Phillies portion of his card run especially manageable and interesting for player collectors. After the 1988 season, he moved to California and immediately became the Angels' primary catcher, hitting another 17 home runs in 1989.

Parrish ultimately completed a 19-year Major League career with 1,782 hits, 324 home runs and 1,070 RBI. His impressive rsum includes eight All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves, six Silver Slugger Awards and the 1984 World Series championship with Detroit.
