Juan Samuel Autographed 1991 Topps - Wax Box Bottom Panels Singles #O Los Angeles Dodgers Card

Add one of the more unusual Topps issues from Juan Samuels Dodgers years with this 1991 Topps Wax Box Bottom Panels Singles #O card featuring Samuel with the Los Angeles Dodgers, personally autographed by the three-time MLB All-Star.

Unlike a traditional pack-issued baseball card, this Samuel was originally part of a four-card panel printed directly on the bottom of a 1991 Topps wax box. Collectors had to cut the individual cards from the box themselves, making surviving examples distinctly different from Samuel's standard 1991 Topps #645 card. The complete singles checklist contains only 16 players lettered A through P, with Samuel correctly designated as card #O.

Samuel appeared on the M/N/O/P panel, alongside an impressive group of established stars: Jeff Reardon #M, Nolan Ryan #N and Robin Yount #P. The original uncut panel measures approximately 5" x 7" and contains all four players.

Another interesting feature for advanced collectors is that two different card-stock versions exist. Examples can be found printed on dark gray cardboard stock as well as a lighter, cleaner stock resembling that used for O-Pee-Chee products.

These box-bottom singles are classic examples of the unusual variations and promotional-style issues that can make a comprehensive player collection so interesting. Because each card had to be manually separated from the original panel, centering and cut quality can vary considerably from one example to another.

The card comes from Samuel's 1991 All-Star season with Los Angeles, when he earned the third and final All-Star selection of his Major League career. That makes this unusual box-bottom issue an especially appealing companion to his regular 1991 Topps #645 and Topps Tiffany #645 cards.
