The 1990 Topps Big set was the third and final installment of Topps oversized Big Baseball series. The 330-card set was released in three series of 110 cards, with each card measuring approximately 2 5/8" x 3 3/4". The glossy fronts feature two color photographsa larger portrait paired with an action imagewhile the backs include statistics and a baseball cartoon highlighting player trivia.
Samuel appears as card #283, placing him in the third and final series (#221-330). This portion of the set is believed by some hobby sources to have received lighter distribution than the first two series, adding some extra interest to third-series cards.
Card #283 is particularly interesting because it captures Samuel during the transition to the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he began playing in 1990 after his brief stint with the New York Mets. Samuel would go on to earn his third career All-Star selection with Los Angeles in 1991.
