His first year in Los Angeles showed that his trademark speed was still very much intact, as he played 143 games while collecting 119 hits, 24 doubles, 13 home runs, 52 RBI and 38 stolen bases.

Samuel would remain with Los Angeles into the 1992 season. His Dodgers tenure included another career highlight in 1991, when he batted .271 with 161 hits, 12 home runs and 23 stolen bases while earning the third All-Star selection of his career.
