Juan Samuel Autographed 1983 TCMA Reading Phillies Card #17

The 1983 TCMA Reading Phillies set is a 24-card team issue featuring the Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The cards use white-bordered posed color photographs, with the player's name and position printed within a blue stripe along the bottom. The set is also notable for including an early minor-league card of future Phillies star Darren Daulton.

Samuel continued to excel after reaching Portland and ultimately received his first Major League call-up in August 1983. He debuted with Philadelphia on August 24 and appeared in 18 regular-season games, batting .277. He was also kept on the Phillies' postseason roster during their run to the 1983 National League pennant and World Series.
