Add a distinctive oversized-set issue from Chris Hammonds lone season in pinstripes with this Chris Hammond autographed 2003 Upper Deck 40-Man #343 New York Yankees card. Upper Decks expansive 40-Man release featured a deep checklist that went well beyond the stars and regular starters found in many traditional sets, making it particularly appealing to team and player-run collectors. Hammond is card #343 in the set.
Hammond joined the Yankees for the 2003 season after completing one of baseballs most impressive comeback campaigns with Atlanta the previous year. Working exclusively out of the New York bullpen, the veteran left-hander appeared in 62 games, compiling a 3-2 record, 2.86 ERA and one save in 63 innings. He also struck out 45 while walking just 11.
Hammond was especially effective late in the season, allowing only one earned run over his final 14 regular-season appearances for a 0.55 ERA during that stretch. He helped New York capture the 2003 American League pennant and also pitched two innings during the World Series against his former Florida Marlins club without allowing an earned run.
The 2003 Upper Deck 40-Man #343 is a great addition for New York Yankees collectors, Upper Deck 40-Man set collectors, Chris Hammond fans or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
