Featuring the veteran left-hander during his first stint with Florida, this card combines the sharp, full-color photography of the popular 1996 Fleer Ultra set with an authentic Hammond signature.
Hammond joined the Marlins for their inaugural 1993 season and immediately became an important part of the starting rotation, leading the club with 11 victories that year. He remained with Florida through the 1996 season, when he transitioned between starting and relief roles and made a career-high 38 appearances. Hammond later engineered an impressive major-league comeback, becoming a dominant reliever for the Atlanta Braves in 2002 before pitching for the New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres and Cincinnati Reds. He finished his 14-season Major League career with 441 appearances.
