Bill Lee Autographed 1974 Topps #118 Boston Red Sox Card

Add a great vintage card of one of the most colorful and recognizable pitchers in Boston Red Sox history with this 1974 Topps #118 Bill Lee card, personally autographed by the left-hander famously known as Spaceman.

This card was issued immediately following Lees breakout 1973 season, when he transitioned from the Boston bullpen into the starting rotation and quickly established himself as one of the American Leagues better starting pitchers. Lee went 17-11 with a 2.75 ERA in 38 appearances, including 33 starts and 18 complete games, earning the only American League All-Star selection of his career.

Lee proved that performance was no fluke. In 1974 he again won 17 games, finishing 17-15 with a 3.51 ERA while making 37 starts and completing 16 of them. He followed with another 17-win campaign in 1975, giving him three consecutive seasons with exactly 17 victories from 1973 through 1975.

Although Lee was an accomplished pitcher, his unconventional personality helped make him a lasting fan favorite. His outspoken nature, sense of humor and unusual approach to the game earned him the enduring Spaceman nickname. He spent 10 seasons with Boston from 1969 through 1978, compiling a 94-68 record with the Red Sox before later pitching for the Montreal Expos.
