Tony Batista Autographed 2003 Topps Total #873 Baltimore Orioles Card
Representing Tony Batista during his productive tenure with Baltimore, this Tony Batista autographed 2003 Topps Total #873 Baltimore Orioles card comes from one of the most comprehensive baseball sets of its era. Topps Total was built around an expansive checklist designed to feature a much broader selection of Major League players than a typical flagship release, making the brand especially popular with team and set collectors.
Batista entered 2003 following an American League All-Star season with the Orioles. In 2002, he appeared in 161 games, led Baltimore with 31 home runs and drove in 87 runs, earning the second All-Star selection of his career after previously representing Toronto in 2000.
He continued to provide the Orioles with significant power and run production during 2003, once again playing 161 games. Batista hit 26 home runs and drove in 99 runs, his highest RBI total during his Baltimore tenure. Across his first three seasons with the Orioles from 2001 through 2003, he accumulated 82 home runs and 273 RBI.
Batista was one of the most recognizable hitters of his generation thanks to his extraordinarily wide-open batting stance. He combined that unusual setup with considerable power, recording three seasons with at least 30 home runs. His biggest offensive season came with Toronto in 2000, when he established career highs with 41 home runs and 114 RBI while earning his first All-Star selection.
The two-time American League All-Star completed his 11-year Major League career with 1,146 hits, 221 home runs and 718 RBI. With its connection to Topps Totals expansive checklist, the 2003 Topps Total #873 is an appealing addition for Baltimore Orioles collectors, Tony Batista fans, Topps Total set builders or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
