Tony Batista Autographed 2001 Upper Deck Vintage #29 Toronto Blue Jays Card

Combining a modern-era player with an old-school baseball card presentation, this Tony Batista autographed 2001 Upper Deck Vintage #29 Toronto Blue Jays card comes from the debut edition of Upper Deck Vintage. The 2001 release embraced a deliberately retro look inspired by baseball cards of an earlier generation, giving Batistas #29 a much different appearance from his photography-driven flagship Upper Deck card.

Batista is featured following his tremendous 2000 season with Toronto. He established career highs with 41 home runs and 114 RBI, scored 96 runs and earned his first American League All-Star selection. His 41 homers were the highest single-season total of his career and capped a two-year stretch in which he combined for 72 home runs and 214 RBI.

His success with Toronto began almost immediately after joining the Blue Jays from the Arizona Diamondbacks during the 1999 season. In only 98 games with Toronto, Batista blasted 26 home runs and drove in 79 runs, finishing the full season with 31 homers and 100 RBI.

Batistas extraordinarily wide-open batting stance made him one of the most recognizable hitters of his era. He moved to the Baltimore Orioles during the 2001 season and continued to produce significant power, earning his second MLB All-Star selection with Baltimore in 2002.

Batista finished his 11-year Major League career with 1,146 hits, 221 home runs and 718 RBI. With its deliberately vintage-inspired presentation, the 2001 Upper Deck Vintage #29 is an appealing addition for Toronto Blue Jays collectors, Tony Batista fans, Upper Deck Vintage collectors or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
