Batista joined the Blue Jays from the Arizona Diamondbacks during the 1999 season and quickly became an important part of the Toronto offense. In just 98 games with the Blue Jays, he hit 26 home runs with 79 RBI, finishing the full season with 31 home runs and 100 RBI between Arizona and Toronto.

Batista followed that breakout performance with the finest offensive season of his Major League career in 2000. He established career highs with 41 home runs and 114 RBI, scored 96 runs and earned his first American League All-Star selection. His 41 home runs placed him among the American Leagues leading sluggers during a season in which Toronto featured one of baseballs most powerful lineups.

Batista was also instantly recognizable because of his extraordinarily wide-open batting stance. He later earned a second All-Star selection with the Baltimore Orioles in 2002 and continued to provide home run power throughout much of his 11-year Major League career.

Batista finished his MLB career with 1,146 hits, 221 home runs and 718 RBI. The 2000 Upper Deck Victory #37 represents him during the peak of his Toronto tenure and is an excellent addition for Blue Jays collectors, Tony Batista fans, Upper Deck Victory set collectors or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
