Featuring Ron Washington during his tenure with Minnesota, this Ron Washington autographed 1985 Fleer #292 Minnesota Twins card captures the versatile infielder during the most substantial portion of his Major League playing career. Washington spent six seasons with the Twins from 1981 through 1986, seeing time primarily at shortstop while also contributing around the infield.

Washington originally reached the Major Leagues with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1977 before joining Minnesota several years later. He became the Twins primary shortstop in 1982, appearing in 119 games and collecting a career-high 105 hits while batting .271.

In 1984, Washington appeared in 100 games for Minnesota and batted .294, the highest single-season average of his Major League career. He remained with the Twins through 1986 before later playing for the Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians and Houston Astros.

Washington played parts of 10 Major League seasons, but his greatest recognition came during a lengthy coaching and managerial career. Highly regarded for his infield instruction, he spent years as an Oakland Athletics coach before becoming manager of the Texas Rangers in 2007.

Washington guided Texas to consecutive American League pennants in 2010 and 2011, taking the Rangers to the first two World Series appearances in franchise history. He later served on the Atlanta Braves coaching staff and earned a 2021 World Series championship before returning to managing with the Los Angeles Angels. Combining his Twins playing career with his later prominence as a coach and manager, the 1985 Fleer #292 is an appealing addition for Minnesota collectors, Ron Washington fans, Fleer set collectors or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
