Add a great final Phillies-era issue of one of the club's most durable relievers with this 1984 Fleer #45 Ron Reed card, personally autographed by the longtime Major League pitcher and member of the 1980 World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies.

The card was issued following Reed's eighth and final season with Philadelphia. In 1983, at age 40, Reed remained an important part of the Phillies bullpen, appearing in 61 games and compiling an outstanding 9-1 record with a 3.48 ERA, eight saves and 73 strikeouts in 95 innings.

That 1983 Phillies team became known as the "Wheeze Kids" because of its veteran-heavy roster and made an unexpected run to the National League pennant. Reed pitched in his second World Series with Philadelphia, appearing out of the bullpen against the Baltimore Orioles.

Reed's Philadelphia tenure stretched from 1976 through 1983, during one of the most successful periods in franchise history. He was a member of five Phillies postseason teams and, most importantly, the 1980 World Series championship club. During that championship season, Reed appeared in 55 regular-season games, winning seven games and recording nine saves.

His overall career was remarkable for both its length and versatility. Reed spent 19 seasons in the Major Leagues, beginning as a starter before becoming a highly effective reliever. He finished with a 146-140 record, 3.46 ERA, 103 saves and 1,481 strikeouts across 2,477 innings, while earning a National League All-Star selection earlier in his career.

Reed also owns one of the more unusual athletic rsums in baseball history: before establishing himself as a Major League pitcher, he played professional basketball, making him a fascinating multi-sport figure in addition to his importance in Phillies history.
