Featuring two-time National League All-Star catcher Ozzie Virgil, this Ozzie Virgil autographed 1989 Upper Deck #104 Atlanta Braves card comes from Upper Decks landmark inaugural baseball release. Virgil joined Atlanta after establishing himself as a productive power-hitting catcher with the Philadelphia Phillies and spent two seasons behind the plate for the Braves.

Virgils first season in Atlanta was one of the best of his career. In 1986, he appeared in 129 games and hit 15 home runs with 48 RBI, earning his second consecutive National League All-Star selection. His combination of power and run production made him a valuable offensive presence at a position traditionally known more for defense.

His breakthrough had come with Philadelphia in 1984, when increased playing time allowed him to establish himself as a Major League regular. The following season, Virgil set career highs with 19 home runs and 55 RBI and was selected to his first National League All-Star team.

Virgil spent parts of 11 seasons in the Major Leagues, playing for the Phillies, Braves and Toronto Blue Jays. He followed in the footsteps of his father, Ozzie Virgil Sr., who became the first Dominican-born player in Major League Baseball, making the Virgils one of baseballs notable father-son families.

Representing Virgils Atlanta tenure in Upper Decks historic debut release, the 1989 Upper Deck #104 is an appealing addition for Atlanta Braves collectors, Ozzie Virgil fans, catching enthusiasts, 1989 Upper Deck set collectors or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
