Capturing Nick Esasky after his move from Cincinnati to Boston, this Nick Esasky autographed 1989 Upper Deck #757 Boston Red Sox card comes from Upper Decks landmark inaugural baseball release. Card #757 was included in the later portion of the 1989 checklist, allowing Upper Deck to feature Esasky with his new club after six seasons with the Cincinnati Reds.

Esasky signed with the Boston Red Sox as a free agent prior to the 1989 season and immediately delivered the finest offensive performance of his Major League career. Serving as Bostons primary first baseman, he batted .277 with 159 hits, 28 doubles, 30 home runs and 108 RBI in 154 games.

His 30 home runs and 108 RBI both established career highs, while his power made him an important part of a Boston lineup featuring Wade Boggs, Dwight Evans and Ellis Burks. The season proved just how productive Esasky could be when given regular playing time, as he surpassed the 100-RBI mark for the only time in his career.

Before joining Boston, Esasky had spent his entire Major League career with Cincinnati. A first-round selection of the Reds in the 1978 MLB Draft, he reached the majors in 1983 and developed into a versatile power hitter capable of playing first base, third base and the outfield.

Esaskys outstanding Boston season makes the 1989 Upper Deck #757 especially representative of the peak of his career. Combined with its place in Upper Decks historic inaugural set, the card is an appealing addition for Boston Red Sox collectors, Nick Esasky fans, 1989 Upper Deck collectors or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
