LaCoss spent five seasons with San Francisco and was part of another memorable Giants club in 1989, when the team defeated the Chicago Cubs in the NLCS to capture its first National League pennant since 1962. His Giants tenure connected him to two of the franchises most significant postseason breakthroughs of the era.

Over a 14-year Major League career with the Reds, Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals and Giants, LaCoss recorded 98 victories while working primarily as a starting pitcher.
